I was sitting next to my husband’s ex-wife on a flight.
MY HUSBAND’S EX-WIFE: “Grace, you’re Oscar’s new wife, right? I recognized you from social media. You’re very beautiful.”
ME: “Thank you.”
MY HUSBAND’S EX-WIFE: “Did you know that the house you’re living in? Was supposed to be my house? My dream house, actually.”
ME (a little blindsided): “Excuse me?”
MY HUSBAND’S EX-WIFE: “Oh, Oscar didn’t tell you? Yeah, we designed it while we were living in the apartment. Oscar must have liked it all so much that he didn’t want to change anything at all.”
ME: “Oscar never mentioned that. We’ve been in there for three years now, and we’ve made some changes.”
MY HUSBAND’S EX-WIFE (chuckled softly): “And the flowers, Grace. Oscar still sends me the loveliest flowers every year. Even the day our divorce was finalized, he bought me a bouquet.”
ME: “Flowers? Seriously?”
